E.J. Lee

Pastry Chef and Owner of several boutiques

E.J. Lee is a renowned pastry chef and owner of several pastry shops in Seoul.
Well known for her creativity and expertise in pastry making, she has successfully transformed her passion into a flourishing career.

E.J. Lee began her university education in English and French literature according as her parents’ wishes: they didn’t want her to become a chef.
However, at the age of 23, during a student exchange in Montreal, she discovered pastry-making and developed a real passion for cooking.
Back in South Korea, she finished her degree and got an office job while continuing to bake at home.
Following her marriage, she moved to Stockholm and then to London to study at the prestigious Leiths School of Food and Wine.
It was in London that she landed a part-time job at Ottolenghi, where she was introduced to the distinctive style of London pastry making.

In 2011, E.J. Lee launched a series of pastry masterclasses in Seoul.
In 2014, she opened EJ Baking Studio and Dessert Café, a venue comprising a pastry shop on the first floor and a pastry school upstairs, where she teaches eight different courses.
In early 2019, she opened her second boutique, Owners Gram, in Shinsadong, Seoul, specialized in traditional desserts such as canelés, macarons and travel cakes.

E.J. Lee is renowned for her London-style desserts, characterized by their authenticity and simplicity.
Her creations emphasize a delicate balance between soft and crunchy textures, as well as sweet and tangy flavors, thanks to the use of fruit.
She is best known for her original macaroons, millefeuilles and other pastries in a wide variety of styles and colors.
