He himself laughs at his completely fitting surname “Bakker”, which sounds a lot like “baker”. With forty years of travel and experience under his belt, it would be impossible to list all the great chefs he has worked with. Hans singles out two of the best Dutch chefs he worked with in the late 1970s and early 1980s the renowned Cas Spijkers (2 Michelin stars) for his standards of Dutch cuisine, and Mario Uva (1 Michelin star) for his innovative Italian dishes. Although officially retired, Hans Bakker has started his own chocolate company, “Studio 54 – Art in Chocolate”, in Purmerend on the outskirts of Amsterdam. This new challenge allows him to share his taste for cocoa, but also for natural products, fruit and colour!
