From triumph in 2019 to new world title ambition

After their historic victory at the Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie in 2019, the team is now aiming for a second world title. They were led by their current coach. As a result, his experience and legacy as a world champion are key assets. He helps guide and prepare this new generation of competitors.

Foo Yi Qing, Sugar candidate

Chef Foo Yi Qing is a Malaysian pastry chef specializing in sugar artistry, viennoiserie, and pâtisserie. Known for her refined technique, precise execution, and elegant approach to flavor and design, she represents a new generation of pastry talent emerging from Malaysia. 

She has a strong presence on both national and international competition stages. As a result, she has consistently demonstrated excellence, discipline, and creative vision throughout her career. Her participation in the Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie 2027 marks her second appearance at the prestigious event. She previously competed in 2025, where she earned a bronze medal with Team Malaysia. 

Her journey reflects dedication, resilience, and an ongoing pursuit of excellence. In addition, she continues to compete at the highest level of international pastry competition.

Mun Pui Teng, Chocolate candidate  

Chef Mun Pui Teng is a Malaysian pastry chef specializing in chocolate, pastry, and sugar artistry. She is recognized for her refined craftsmanship, competitive excellence, and strong presence on the international stage. 

Her participation in the Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie 2027 marks her second appearance at the prestigious competition. She made her debut in 2023, where she achieved an impressive 6th place finish with Team Malaysia. 

Her journey reflects consistency, technical mastery, and a continued drive to perform at the highest level of global pastry competition. 

Otto Tay, coach of Team Malaysia

Chef Otto Tay, 2019 World Champion and one of the leading names in modern pastry, is widely respected for his creativity, precision, and commitment to excellence. He represents the highest level of achievement in the pastry world through both his technical mastery and innovative vision. 

After gaining international recognition as part of Team Malaysia, winners of the 2019 Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie in Lyon, Otto Tay continues to shape the industry beyond competition. He now serves as a coach and mentor for the new generation of chefs. They are preparing to compete for the Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie 2027 with Team Malaysia. He shares  with them the discipline, mindset, and standards of a true champion. 

His presence reflects the passing of knowledge and legacy, inspiring rising talents to pursue excellence and reach the highest stage of international pastry competition.
