Located on Amsterdam’s historic Zeedijk, Dutch Courage pays tribute to the Dutch tradition of genever, the precursor to modern gin. The bar showcases more than 150 genevers and brings this rich heritage to life through a creative and contemporary cocktail program.
Founded by Timo Janse and Tess Posthumus, Dutch Courage was created with the ambition of restoring genever to its rightful place at the heart of modern cocktail culture. Situated on the Zeedijk, once a gateway for spices and goods arriving from across the world, the venue celebrates the history of Dutch spirits while reinventing them for a new generation.

Timo Janse : Timo Janse is a Dutch bartender and entrepreneur, and co-founder of Dutch Courage in Amsterdam. A specialist in genever and local spirits, he is dedicated to reviving the Netherlands’ rich distilling heritage through a combination of cocktail expertise, education, and modern hospitality.
